IN THE COMMUNITY
Rainbow Riders
The Rainbow Riders are a Therapeutic Riding Association, offering a therapeutic horseback riding and animal care program for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.
The St. John's Oilfield Technical Society has chosen to donate to this association on behalf of the late Kasey Allen. Kasey is the daughter of an oilfield colleague.
Each year from our annual golf tournament, we donate $1,500.00 to the Rainbow Riders in Kasey's memory.

Society of Petroleum Engineers (Atlantic Canada Chapter)

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a worldwide technical organization dedicated to the exchange of technical knowledge related to exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources. SPE has a local chapter in St John's (The SPE Atlantic Canada Section) which, among other things, is dedicated to supporting educational initiatives for post-secondary students in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Since 2004, a portion of the proceeds raised at the Annual OTS Golf Tournament has been donated to SPE to provide funding for the Atlantic Canada SPE Scholarship Initiative. This initiative provides annual scholarship opportunities to students enrolled in the Petroleum Engineering Technology Program at CONA, and to Engineering students enrolled in the Oil and Gas Studies Option at MUN. Furthermore, SPE Student Chapters have been established at MUN and CONA to provide local students with access to world-class educational resources such as the SPE e-library (which contains over 45,000 technical papers specific to the oil and gas industry), and monthly technical publications which highlight the latest technology in the oil and gas industry.
